Digital Extremes Celebrates the Worldwide Release of Bioshock 2 Multiplayer

The Ants had the honour of attending Digital Extremes‘ Bioshock 2 launch party on Feb. 10th, 2010. The event was to celebrate D.E.’s development of the multiplayer portion of the sequel to 2K’s 2007 critically-acclaimed Bioshock. Guests were invited to dress up in the styles of the late ’40s or early ’50s–the era in which the original Bioshock takes place–and most of the guests happily obliged.

The event was held in the posh grandeur of Club Mansion on King Street in London, Ontario. Decorated to reflect the game’s setting in the city of Rapture–a leaky, underwater, Art Deco dystopia in the North Atlantic–the club was bathed in blue light, with glass bubbles adorning the ceilings, the high-energy swing/rockabilly sounds of London’s own Hi-Tones jump-jiving the dance floor, and a splicer or two roaming the halls (splicers being the hopped-up genetic mutants who terrorize the city of Rapture).

The Ants would like to congratulate C.E.O. James Schmalz and President Michael Schmalz and their entire staff for their incredible accomplishment on the multiplayer and for throwing such a grand soirée, as well as allowing us to share in their celebration.

Note: ‘Ant’ Tonya–who had tee many martoonis and was wearing fabulous shoes–would like to point out that the cupcakes had butterflies on them. IMAGO, anyone?
